Chances are good that the season is over by the time you get to read this. Where did it go?? Hope that you all rode as many miles as time and economics allowed you to. I know that what I plan on riding and what reality allows me to ride are two different things. Too much to do and never sufficient time to do it!
We’re already talking about next season and some new trail opportunities that might exist if all goes well. The first new trail will run from Millinocket to South Twin (and eventually to the State owned Sebois Unit 7 miles west of here). Funding for a new 200′ suspension bridge over the West Branch of the Penobscot is already in place. All permits have been obtained and construction is supposed to commence in May. The section of trail from Millinocket to the river will be very easy to build and put in service. From the bridge west to South Twin will be a different matter. Various wetlands near “Mountain Man Pond” will have to be dealt with and a route has yet to be established. Once completed this new trail will certainly be an asset to the area and will make for another great loop trail.
