One of the common predicaments when riding Maine’s remote snowmobile trails is the question of where to go, when you have to go!
Most of the gas stops, like Abol Store and Kokadjo, offer some type of facility. But once on the open trail, riders are left to improvise – generally easy for men, not so for women.
One of the very few spots is this outhouse on the 109 Trail, 16 miles into the interior of the Jo Mary Forest. While there are other such spots, they are generally buried in snow and not accessible. This one is, courtesy of the Jo Mary grooming crew, and most importantly the management of the KI/Jo Mary Multiple Use Forest.
